The iconic Melbourne Butter Factory Building at 180 Bank Street South Melbourne, and home to Digital Pictures, has been repainted and is currently undergoing renovations of all of its four floors.
Recently purchased by Digital Pictures' parent company Omnilab Media the business has made a commitment staying on the iconic site and to refesh and renovate the building.
"I am very happy that we are able to remain in Bank Street, " said John Fleming, General Manager, Digital Pictures, "By staying, we honour the accomplishments of the talented and creative craftsmen and women that have been working on this site for over 30 years, and by investing in the buildling we invest in the people that will grow with the business into what looks like a very bright future."
In addition to painting the exterior of the building in an stately deep bluestone grey, there is much work taking place inside 180 Bank street.
Reception and level 2 offices are in the proccess of renovation, with a new curved hallway leading to our newly refurbished theatre. New edit suites and offices are springing up on the third floor, and the fourth floor is next in line.
Andrew White, Architect, Archefusion said of his work on the building, "The architectural concept was to create clean lines, remove clutter and allow for better visibility. Long, thin filmic windows allow glimpses into the various worlds of digital pictures, allowing the energy and excitement of these worlds to be transmitted. Warm coloured break-out zones or nooks allow for informal meetings and relief from formal work. A sense of journey was also important in the new design. It is both a futuristic design, and a design that evokes medina's, mediveal streets, and temples of the past."
Digital Pictures' marketing and design teams are consulting with Andrew on signage and decoration for the building and look forward to clients and staff experiencing and enjoying the refeshed and energerised work space.
