About my entry

My submission for the cover of Desktop’s ‘green/environmentally friendly’ issue evolved from an ace of clubs illustration that I recently completed for a deck of playing cards. I find that the topic of the environment is a very sensitive one. There seems to be wide-spread consensus that there is a need for immediate collective and global action however, we are faced with an increasingly depressing situation of constant debate and inaction. Rather than dwelling on current political indecision and skepticism, I decided it was important to create an image that conveyed positivity – and a hopeful, brighter outlook. I also thought that it would make a pretty cool cover.

My story

In brief – I’m a natural blonde, born in 82, and a Melbourne based designer. I studied multimedia at the National School of Design (Swinburne) from 2001–2004. During this time I formed one half of Blonde vs Brown – an art direction duo; working on diverse range projects for the music and fashion industry. I currently work full time as a motion/broadcast designer for Iloura/Digital Pictures. I work with a talented team designing and creating motion- graphics  on a broad range of great projects. In the past year I have published 4 books of recent personal work – with photography and illustration focus – which will be available from my website soon.
